** NHME
hopes that 2010 will bring about the birth of an Ann Arbor String Program. At this point we have seen interest in a
string program and have done some preliminary work on curriculum and
instruments. NHME can have available 2 basses, 3 ‘cellos, and 2 violas for rent
at $20/month available in September. With the $15/month tuition cost and rental
of one of these instruments, the monthly cost is $35. Recruiting for the Ann
Arbor String Ensemble is currently the most important objective. I am hopeful
that Ann Arbor NHME will finally have a string program.
NHME has
found that students need at least a full year’s commitment to the program in order
to receive lasting benefit.

Monthly payments for each student will be $15 plus $10 for
each additional class.
The $15 dollar fee applies to the first music class in which
any student is enrolled.
Instruments, when available, rent for $10 per month.
Please send each application with $15 first month fee for
all students.

Financial information:
If a
student is enrolled in band and pays $15, the second class, such as choir,
would be an additional $10 per month, for a total of $25 per month.
If the same
student wishes to be a part of a third ensemble, such as percussion, then there
is another $10 per month charge, for a total of $35 per month.
Parents are
invited to learn with their student musicians by taking up the instrument of
their choice. Parents who are currently musicians are invited to join with
either the beginning or advanced group.
Parents also contribute to NHME’s success with a $15 per month charge.
Student
musicians who already have background from another program or private lessons
are encouraged to join us, as are retired or older musicians who would like to
share their musical experience, strength, and hope with a new generation.
NHME
reserves the right to place new students in its ensembles based on performance
skills presented at their first rehearsal.
